Disney Delivers to Kids with Food Allergies
I am one of the lucky parents with a child that does not have any major food allergies. This past week on a family vacation to Walt Disney World I learned first hand how hard it is to travel with a young child that has these challenges. You are on vacation and want to eat out, but how do you handle your child with special dietary needs? You don't want to bring a special brown bag meal or limit yourself to only a select few restaurants, but on the other hand, you don't want to put your child in danger or get them sick.
Disney's service for handling customers with allergies was amazing. At the Toy Story Pizza Planet restaurant in MGM, the chef cooked up a special wheat and dairy free pizza. At the BierGarten in Epcot Germany, the chef gave us a tour of the buffet and informed us what the child could eat, then came out with soy ice cream for desert. At Chef Mickey in the Contemporary Resort, the chef came out again to give us a tour and then brought out wheat free waffles.
